The GREAT Project is an international health initiative developed under EQUALIS to improve breast cancer outcomes through partnership, workforce development, innovation and community-led healthcare.
Rather than delivering isolated medical missions, we work with local partners to strengthen healthcare systems, develop local expertise and create sustainable models of breast cancer care that communities can own.
Every project is designed with one goal:
To leave a stronger healthcare system than the one we found.

LAMU COUNTY
Taking Breast Care Beyond Hospital Walls
Lamu presents unique healthcare challenges.
Many communities live on islands or in remote coastal villages where access to specialist breast services is extremely limited.
The GREAT Project is working with local partners to deliver community-based breast health education, clinical assessment and referral pathways closer to where women live.
Our planned outreach clinics aim to reach communities that have historically had little or no access to breast cancer services.
By working alongside local healthcare teams, we hope to strengthen confidence, improve earlier presentation and reduce delays in diagnosis.

KILIFI COUNTY
Building Long-Term Capacity
Our partnership with Kilifi County represents a shared commitment to improving breast cancer outcomes through sustainable healthcare development.
Working alongside county leadership, clinicians and community partners, the GREAT Project has undertaken a comprehensive breast cancer needs assessment to better understand existing services, identify gaps and support future planning.
This work forms the foundation for long-term service development across the county.
